The change in issued shares from 4,513,128,255 as of 31 December 2021 to 4,919,307,531 as of 01 January 2022 or an equivalent of 406,179,276 additional shares represents the original issuance of common shares pursuant to the Merger of Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) and BPI Family Savings Bank, Inc. which took effect on 01 January 2022 with BPI as the surviving entity. The additional shares are recognized as treasury shares in the books of BPI.
