- Recognition underscores leadership and growing relevance across the global FX ecosystem

SGX Group has been named "Best Asia FX Derivatives Exchange", and SGX FX secured "Best FX Market Data and Analytics Provider for Asian Currencies" at the FX Markets Asia Awards 2026. The awards cap a year of record volumes, product innovation and market structure enhancements across SGX's listed and OTC FX platforms.

Currency volatility and global market uncertainty drove participants to SGX to manage their risk, generating record trading volumes and broader participation. Daily average volume (DAV) for SGX's listed FX derivatives jumped 24% year-on-year to US$22.8 billion(1), while open interest rose 10%. Growth was anchored by flagship USD/CNH and INR/USD contracts, which rank among the world's top ten most traded FX futures.

SGX continued to enhance market quality through targeted market structure enhancements. These included adopting clearer pricing references for trading and settlement, increasing liquidity for longer-term contracts, and deepening order books during overnight (T+1) sessions. These upgrades supported increased trading activity in TWD/USD Full-Sized contracts, lifting daily average volumes to a record US$378 million in February 2026.

KC Lam, Head of FX Derivatives, SGX Group, said, "In a year of intense geopolitical and macroeconomic shifts, global market participants migrated to highly liquid and trusted venues like SGX to manage currency risk. Our focus has been on sharpening the design and efficiency of our contracts to give investors deeper liquidity, better price discovery and robust clearing during volatile periods."

SGX also pushed into new geographical and digital territories. In June 2025, the exchange launched BRL/USD futures with Brazil's B3 - capturing 80% market share during Asian hours. In November 2025, it launched cryptocurrency perpetual futures for Bitcoin and Ethereum, bringing exchange-traded clearing and risk management standards to digital assets.

On the data front, SGX FX - the fastest-growing exchange-based OTC FX platform - saw its market data service, TickNode, gain rapid institutional adoption. Covering over 70 currency pairs across Spot, Forwards, Swaps and Non-Deliverable Forwards (NDFs), TickNode uses actual executable pricing streams, instead of indicative quotes, to deliver real-time and historical FX composite prices.

To address the lack of localised benchmarks, TickNode rolled out dedicated Singapore and Tokyo datasets aligned specifically to Asian trading hours, alongside pricing down to 50-millisecond intervals. This has made TickNode a dependable reference for valuation, price discovery, risk management and best execution reporting across the region, especially during periods of fragmented or thin liquidity.

Hugh Whelan, Head of Liquidity Management and Data, SGX FX, said, "TickNode's success demonstrates that the market increasingly values independent, executable FX data. Our focus has been on building a trusted data business that combines high-quality benchmarks, liquidity analytics and execution intelligence to help clients make better trading and risk-management decisions."
