SGX Group (Singapore Exchange) today launched its ninth annual SGX Orb Awards to recognise excellence in financial journalism and content - work that brings clarity to complex issues and offers balanced, engaging perspectives for the investing public.

Each year, the SGX Orb Awards celebrates content that reflects evolving global markets and the priorities shaping Singapore's capital markets as an international financial centre. The 2026 special category seeks to highlight original work that showcases how listed companies unlock enterprise value, while deepening understanding of shareholder value creation in the Singapore stock market. The digital category will focus on content that strengthens financial literacy and investor education by translating market developments into actionable insights for investors.

Launched in 2018, the SGX Orb Awards serves as an important pillar of SGX Group's efforts to support more informed investment decision-making by building financial understanding and confidence across the ecosystem. Last year's edition attracted nearly 100 entries from journalists from the print and broadcast media, investment websites and independent writers including financial bloggers.

Submissions for 2026 are now open at www.sgx.com/sgx-orb-awards. Judging will be conducted by an independent panel, with members of the public invited to nominate and vote for their preferred entries among the shortlisted contenders. The winners in each of the five categories will be unveiled in end-September.

Appendix: SGX Orb Awards - Award Categories

1) Story of the Year

We are seeking a news story, feature or opinion piece that best offers insights into investing across marketplaces - equities, currencies, commodities and fixed income. What innovations have driven market development and bolstered opportunities for retail and institutional investors? How has technology transformed risk management by reinforcing trust and efficiency, while promoting sustainable growth? The winner of this category will demonstrate the ability to uncover a fresh angle and capture what is important for market participants to know.

2) Special Category: The Value Equation

This category recognises outstanding journalism and analysis that examine how shareholder value is created and realised in Singapore's stock market. Entries may cover individual companies, sectors, market reforms or broader themes linked to the Value Unlock movement. Judges will assess submissions for depth of insight and the ability to explain company and market developments in a way that helps investors better understand value and its implications.

3) The Hidden Gem

This award seeks to honour the best feature or analysis of an under-covered stock listed either on SGX Mainboard or Catalist. The challenge will be to uncover a fresh angle that investors or analysts may have missed. If you have a knack for turning complex concepts into clear and precise storytelling, we want to hear from you.

4) An Experiential Treat

This popular category is for all things creative and experiential - for example, a broadcast segment for TV, a captivating video, podcast or illustrations that probe deep into the workings of a financial or commodity asset class. The winner will deliver a compelling story while offering viewers an experience to remember.

5) #TheGoTo

This category recognises digital platforms and creators that empower audiences with engaging content that raises standards in financial literacy and investment education. Open to online publishers, news aggregators, podcasters and social media content creators, the award honours content that helps audiences better understand money and markets, and build the knowledge needed to make informed financial decisions.
