- Fundraising gains momentum with S$1.3 million raised to date
- Tasek Academy and Social Services joins as sixth beneficiary
SGX Cares is expanding its community impact with a focus on five priority social causes over the next three years, as it welcomes a new beneficiary to its growing network of partners.
As the flagship corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme of SGX Group (Singapore Exchange), SGX Cares will direct its efforts and resources to five causes across 11 programmes from 2025 to 2027. These causes aim to bring meaningful change to the lives of over 4,000 individuals:
1. Empowering children with special needs - supporting inclusive education and skills development so that they can reach their full potential.
2. Caring for seniors in need of support - improving the well-being of ageing communities.
3. Building strong and resilient families and supporting at-risk youths - fostering stability and belonging as well as opportunities for young people to thrive.
4. Integrating adults with disabilities into society - promoting meaningful employment and social inclusion.
5. Enhancing Social Service Agencies capability and capacity - strengthening systems and tools so that social service agencies can better serve those in need.
Growing network
As part of this expanded focus, SGX Cares welcomed Tasek Academy and Social Services as a sixth beneficiary, joining AWWA Ltd., Autism Association (Singapore), Fei Yue Community Services, HCSA Community Services and Shared Services for Charities. In partnership with Community Chest, SGX Cares will work closely with each beneficiary to advance the causes and support targeted programmes, ensuring that their strengths are harnessed to drive sustained impact.
Pol de Win, SGX Cares Bull Charge Organising Chairperson and Head of Global Sales & Origination at SGX Group, said, "We drew inspiration from our employees to identify the social causes that resonate most deeply within SGX Group. With this renewed focus, we are committed to building on over two decades of SGX Cares' efforts by offering deeper support for those in need and creating enduring impact in our communities."
Fundraising in action
Fundraising is gaining momentum, with over S$1.3 million raised to date. Yesterday, corporate sponsors and partners tested their wits on Singapore-themed SG60 questions at the Ultimate Quiz Challenge held at SGX Centre. It is one of various fundraising activities organised throughout the year by SGX Group employees, alongside initiatives such as the Ink & Impact donation drive where employees pledged donations for merchandise designed by their peers.
This morning, more than 300 players - including Singapore's Members of Parliament, football heroes and the financial community - took to the pitch at the annual SGX Cares Bull Charge Charity Futsal tournament. Now in its 10th edition, the tournament attracted over 300 players across a record 37 teams in the Men's, Women's, Open and Youth categories - its highest level of participation to date. Gracing the event was Guest of Honour Mr Baey Yam Keng, Minister of State, Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, and Ministry of Transport. Local football legends Lionel Lewis, Aide Iskandar and Lim Tong Hai also conducted a children's clinic for SGX Cares beneficiaries.
Mr Baey Yam Keng said, "SGX Group has done commendable work in rallying the financial community and beyond to support meaningful causes over the years. Today's Charity Futsal demonstrates how the collective efforts of corporate sponsors and partners can translate into lasting impact for our beneficiaries, uplifting lives and strengthening our community. I encourage more corporates and partners to play their part in such efforts, so that together we can build a stronger and more caring community for all."
This year's activities will conclude with the popular Bull Charge Charity Run on 7 November at Marina Barrage, which is expected to attract more than 4,000 participants from across the region's financial industry. SGX Cares is privileged to welcome President Tharman Shanmugaratnam to this marquee event for its 22nd edition.
Concluded de Win, "SGX Cares has always been more than fundraising - it is about the spirit of #BetterHappensTogether as we rally our growing international community to drive meaningful impact where it matters most."
