Auckland Council acknowledges APTR judicial review application

Auckland Council was last week served with legal proceedings challenging the decision by the council s Governing Body on 29 June 2017 to establish a targeted rate for commercial accommodation providers. These proceedings have been foreshadowed for some time.

Auckland Council General Counsel James Hassall says as this matter is before the court, we are unable to make any further comment in relation to the claim at this time. However, as the claim only concerns the Accommodation Provider Targeted Rate (APTR), the financial impact on the Council would be immaterial in the event of any adverse findings against the Council.

We will provide a further update when the outcome of these proceedings is publicised.
