Description (Please provide a detailed description of the event in the box below)
- Expanded event will feature new forums on steel, coking coal and freight to bring together more industry players in the ferrous metals ecosystem

Singapore Iron Ore Week (SIOW) 2020 is set to be Asia's largest event for the ferrous metals industry, as it expands its focus beyond iron ore to feature other key components along the ferrous metals supply chain. To be held on 18-21 May 2020 at Sands Expo & Convention Centre, the 8th SIOW will bring together an unrivalled line-up of industry experts and decision makers globally across the steel-making and trading value chain.

Founding organisers SGX and E-Steel will be collaborating with Enterprise Singapore for the expanded event. As the agency driving the development of Singapore as a global commodities trading hub, Enterprise Singapore has brought together new partners in the ferrous industry to participate in SIOW next year. The 2020 conference will retain its anchor event the Singapore Iron Ore Forum and bring onboard price-reporting agencies Fastmarkets MB and S&P Global Platts, who will organise the steel and coking coal forums respectively, as well as shipping media TradeWinds, who will focus on freight.

William Chin, Head of Commodities at SGX, said, "As the premier international risk management centre for the steel-making value chain, SGX is privileged to work with Enterprise Singapore and top calibre partners in re-imagining Singapore Iron Ore Week. With a long history of bringing together key industry participants in what is now firmly established as the flagship event for the ferrous community, SIOW 2.0 promises to be bigger and better in delivering greater insights and provoking knowledge sharing in every part of the steel value chain coal, steel and freight."

"As a global commodities hub, Singapore is well-positioned to catalyse partnerships and knowledge exchange between international and regional players in the growing ferrous industry. The expanded platform next year will not only bring together the trading and shipping community of iron ore, steel and coal, it will also include global steel makers and end-users from diverse sectors such as construction, automotive and consumer electronics. We are confident that participants will find even more possibilities for partnerships and cross learning with the expansion of the Singapore Iron Ore Week," said Mr Satvinder Singh, Assistant Chief Executive Officer of Enterprise Singapore.

Founded in 2013 by SGX and E-Steel, SIOW is an annual flagship event for the global iron ore and steel industry to discuss and debate the latest industry trends and market developments, as well as deepen industry-wide cooperation amongst industry players, government and businesses. This year's event attracted more than 1,500 delegates from 18 countries across Asia, Europe, Middle East and America, including business executives, industry experts, investors, traders, miners, procurement managers and government officials.

SIOW underpins Singapore's leading position as one of the world's largest metals and minerals trading hubs, with a community of over 200 related companies today, of which more than half of them active traders of iron ore and steel products. With about 60% of the global commodity flows taking place in the Asian time zone, Singapore, at the heart of Asia, is well positioned to facilitate the growth of these trade flows.
