Description (Please provide a detailed description of the event in the box below)
- SGX's flagship charity initiative raises more than $2.7 million in 2017 for five beneficiaries
- Event highlight is Obstacle Challenge, Singapore's first-ever charity inflatable obstacle run

Singapore Exchange's (SGX) flagship charity initiative Bull Charge held its annual Charity Run today, rounding off another successful year of fundraising with more than $2.7 million in proceeds.

The 14th edition of the Charity Run, held in Marina Bay, was the grand finale to a year-long programme that included a golf tournament in May and celebrity futsal matches in September. SGX's business, data and technology partners gave their financial support in a Technology Symposium in August and Market Access Night in October. Through the year, SGX staff also participated in get-togethers with beneficiaries for festive celebrations and Cook-A-Meals under the Bull Charge Cares series.

Launched in 2004, SGX Bull Charge is the only corporate charity initiative that brings together Singapore's financial community and SGX-listed companies to support the needs of underprivileged children and families, persons with disabilities, as well as the elderly. A total of 150 corporate sponsors supported this year's programme, including Charity Run Diamond Bull Sponsors Cisco, Dell EMC, Hewlett-Packard and Thai Beverage.

Gracing the Charity Run as Guest-of-Honour was Ms. Sim Ann, Senior Minister of State for the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth and the Ministry of Trade and Industry. Almost 7,000 runners were flagged off at The Float@Marina Bay for the 5km Mass Run and 5km Obstacle Challenge - Singapore's first-ever charity inflatable obstacle run - up from 5,000 last year. Fifty-six CEOs and chiefs of companies also took part in the 3km Chief Challenge.

Mr. Loh Boon Chye, Chief Executive Officer of SGX, said, "SGX is delighted to have the opportunity to rally Singapore's financial community to go the extra mile together for a good cause. We would like to express our heartfelt appreciation, particularly to our sponsors, for their support in helping Bull Charge grow from strength to strength - today's Charity Run celebrates their commitment and efforts for the year. Charitable work, unlike a sprint race, is a long-distance run, so even as we conclude our programme for 2017, we look forward to continuing this journey for our beneficiaries for many more years to come."

All proceeds from SGX Bull Charge events this year will be channelled to five adopted beneficiaries: AWWA Ltd., Autism Association (Singapore), Community Chest, Fei Yue Community Services, and Shared Services for Charities.

Since 2004, SGX Bull Charge has raised more than $30 million for over 50 charities, providing beneficiaries with care and assistance, and helping them lead a more positive, meaningful and comfortable life. For more information, please visit https://bullcharge.sgx.com/.

Mr. Kevin Lee, Chief Executive Officer of AWWA Ltd.: "Serving more than 6,000 clients a year from children and youth with special needs, families, caregivers to seniors, we are privileged to be one of the beneficiaries of SGX Bull Charge, aligning with its mandate to contribute to the disadvantaged. We are deeply grateful to SGX for providing this avenue for like-minded companies to come together to give generously amid this challenging economic climate. We look forward to SGX's continued partnership and support as we work together in forging a caring and inclusive society, and to empower the disadvantaged with social impact services."

Autism Association (Singapore): "Autism Association (Singapore) is happy and privileged to once again be a beneficiary of SGX's efforts and commitment in building better inclusive communities for individuals with autism. The funds raised from Bull Charge 2017 will make it possible for us to continue serving our clients and their families at the Eden Centre for Adults (Hougang and Clementi). The project will also go a long way in raising the awareness for autism and the need for increased support especially in the area of services for adults."

Ms. Ng Ling Ling, Assistant CEO, National Council of Social Service (NCSS) and Managing Director, Community Chest: "We are very thankful for the year-long efforts from SGX to help raise awareness and funds for the less privileged and disadvantaged groups with Community Chest. Donations raised will be channelled to fund critical social service programmes that serve children with special needs or autism, adults with disabilities, families in need as well as seniors. We value our partnership to empower every person to live with dignity in a caring and inclusive community."

Mr. Leng Chin Fai, Executive Director of Fei Yue Community Services: "Like the other charities which have benefitted from the Charity Run and initiative, on behalf of Fei Yue Community Services and the clients we reach out to, I am grateful to SGX for being a role model of good corporate citizenry. The work we do will become more sustainable if more corporate citizens partner us and enable our work. They are an invaluable part of the equation of bringing good to those who need them. "

Mr. Chris Ong, Chief Executive Officer of Shared Services for Charities: "Shared Services for Charities is indeed privileged to partner with SGX in serving the charity sector with affordable governance review services to help lift the general standard of corporate governance and also improving their processes to achieve organisational excellence. Our next aim is to assist the charity sector to better grasp their risks and manage them for sustainability."
