The company was incorporated in Singapore under the name of CEI Contract Manufacturing Pte Ltd on 28 August 1999. It was converted to a public limited company and changed its name to CEI Contract Manufacturing Ltd on 11 February 2000. The company was set up in 1980 as a member of the Singapore Technologies Group engaging in defence electronic business. In 1990, it ventured into providing commercial contract manufacturing services in printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) in Singapore. The principal activities of the Group are that of contract manufacturing services. Such services include PCBA, box-build assemblies, prototype assemblies and value add engineering works such as circuit layout and functional design. The company serves customers within the industrial equipment market segment, including electro-luminescent displays used in industrial, transportation and medical applications; medical and health care equipment; office equipment as in digital photocopiers; analytical instruments as in gas and liquid chromatographs and measurement instrument; industrial safety controllers and environmental sensors.
