Chop Hup Seng Huat, the forerunner of the Company, was founded in 1941 to trade in scrap metals obtained from used cars, machinery and ships. In the 1950s it diversified into the trading of general hardware such as tools, bolts and nuts. Subsequently, the Group became involved in the import, export and retailing of hardware to the oil refining, petrochemical, marine engineering and repairing industries as well as the energy sector. It is also involved in the provision of engineering services, general trading, dealing in steel, piping and tubing products, property and investment holding and warehousing services. The Company was incorporated on 31 July 1973 as a private limited company and converted into a public limited company on 11 January 1994. The principal activities of the Company are those of a dealer in hardware and property investment holding company.
